United Premier Soccer League Announces Floridas Fullersfield FC Lions as New Expansion Club

Founded in 2014, Hollywood (Fla.)-Based Pro Development Team Joins UPSL

April 16, 2018 – Los Angeles – The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) is excited to announce Fullersfield FC Lions as a new member starting with the 2018 Spring Season.

Based in Hollywood (Fla.), Fullersfield FC Lions will begin UPSL play in the Southeast Conference Florida Central Division and host its UPSL home games at Mary Saunders Park (4750 SW 21st Street, West Park, FL 33023) in compliance with the UPSL’s Minimum Standards.

United Premier Soccer League Commissioner Yan Skwara said, “The UPSL continues to expand in the Florida market, and we’re extremely happy to welcome Fullersfield FC Lions as a new member for the Spring 2018 season. It’s terrific when clubs decide to take the next step, and growing the game via Promotion Relegation is our goal. We wish Fullersfield FC Lions the best of success as it prepares to kick off this Spring.”

Ricky Ferguson, 31, is General Manager of Fullersfield FC Lions. Born in Jamaica but raised and living in Florida, Ferguson played academy soccer before stints with several teams in the American Premier Soccer League (APSL).

Fullersfield FC Lions General Manager Ricky Ferguson said, “The UPSL is the next challenge. From reading about it, and the more we learn about it, it seems like a more competitive league and we’re looking to be more competitive and step up our game of football.”

“The makeup of the team is of many nationalities from all over the world,” Ferguson said. “The UPSL is giving opportunities to players and clubs in the United States and we’re ready to go to the next level.”

The club will soon announce its upcoming game schedule.

Fullersfield FC Lions are an American Soccer club currently based in Hollywood, Fla. and a new member of the United Premier Soccer League. Fullersfield FC Lions will begin play in the UPSL’s Pro Premier Division.

Founded in 2014, Fullersfield FC Lions can participate in the qualifying rounds for the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup through their affiliation and membership with the UPSL, the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA).

The UPSL was formed in 2011 and currently includes more than 160 teams in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Virginia and Wisconsin. UPSL is the fastest growing Pro Development League in the USA, with 200-plus teams targeted for 2018 Spring Season. Each UPSL team is individually owned and operated, and is responsible for maintaining either UPSL Pro Premier Division or Championship Division minimum standards.

UPSL teams are all eligible to participate in the U.S. Open Cup Qualifying Rounds through the leagues affiliation with the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA).
