United Premier Soccer Leagues Florida Central Division Announces Second Tier

Florida Central Division is First in Southeast Conference to Offer a Second Pro Development Level

July 11, 2018 – Los Angeles – The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) is adding a second tier in its Southeast Conference Florida Central Division.

The UPSL is pleased to announce that effective immediately with the 2018 Fall Season that the Southeast Conference will integrate Orlando Soccer Premier League as part of its UPSL Championship second tier competition.

United Premier Soccer League Florida Conference Manager Christian Vallejos said, "We continue to expand and grow the UPSL Florida market, and add a second tier to our Central Division standings creates a more competitive playing environment for all our club members  Promotion/Relegation is the future of soccer in this country and right now we know the UPSL is the torch in the air to building out the Pro/Rel Model in the U.S. Uniting clubs from across America into an Open Play System remains our focus, and we want to be the place where teams can be part of the global FIFA-mandated Promotion and Relegation standard already in place in soccer nations across the world."

The new UPSL Championship Orlando Division's 2018 Fall Season begins July 29 and will continue through a four-team playoff in October. The winner is eligible for promotion to the UPSL Pro Premier Florida Central Division for the 2019 Spring Season.

Founded in 2007, Orlando Soccer Premier League is operated by Alex Moncaleano, the UPSL's new Florida Central Division Manager.

Born in Colombia, Moncaleano, 46, is Director of the Orange County (Fla.) Mayor's Cup, one of the largest annual amateur soccer tournaments in Central Florida, and represented Orange County during the 2015 Copa America.

UPSL Central Florida Division Manager Alex Moncaleano said, "I want to thank the UPSL for the opportunity to be a part of this growing league, and contribute to its growth and potential for creating soccer the right way with community-driven clubs and a top-down approach that includes promotion and relegation. The UPSL is really going about it the right way, and the landscape for Pro Development in Central Florida has changed because of the UPSL."

The new UPSL Championship Orlando Division will host many of the UPSL Pro Premier Florida Central Division reserve teams. New clubs also are expected to join in the near future, with a number of others within the marketplace expressing interest.

The UPSL Championship Orlando Division will have its champions promoted, while the UPSL Pro Premier Florida Central Division will have its bottom teams relegated.

The UPSL Championship Orlando Division champion also will receive a $1,000 cash prize in addition to a promotion sponsorship from Azteca D'Oro Restaurants.

The Southeast Conference Florida Central Division currently has eight UPSL Pro Premier teams.

UPSL Championship is the official Second Tier of the United Premier Soccer League. Member teams can participate in the qualifying rounds for the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup through their affiliation and membership with the UPSL, the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA).

UPSL is the fastest growing Pro Development League in the USA, with 300-plus teams targeted for 2018 Spring Season. UPSL teams are all eligible to participate in the U.S. Open Cup Qualifying Rounds through the leagues affiliation with the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA).
